News from the Cement Replacement Symposium MUMBAI (Bombay) India

March 10, 2001

The conference was attended by 400 delegates (State Officials, Technical Institutes, Universities, major construction companies, power generators from Maharashtra and other Indian states, architects and specifiers for building materials, construction related trade associations and major cement producing companies)

The Minister of Energy and the State minister of Power congratulated Georg Dirk on the rapid establishment of the the first Pozzocrete plant at Nashik and invited the Dirk Group to start further projects in Maharashtra. There was a wide consensus among the delegates that the market urgently needs a classified Fly Ash cement replacement product.

Delegates commented that the industry had reaped great benefits from this symposium which had provided the first step to understanding in greater depth the technical aspects of using Pozzocrete as a cement replacement product.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), India, became the Nobel Peace Prize laureate together with the former American Vice President Al Gore for laying foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract climate changes. This panel in collaboration with TERI (Tata Energy and Resources Institute) issued in 2006 a book containing 25 best projects for corporate environmental responsibility in India - the DIRK Pozzocrete plant at Nashik was selected as one of those twenty five project.
