DIRK alkaline stabilisation plant and odour control unit

Scotia Water awarded on 9th of October 2000 a contract for the interim dewatering, stabilisation and beneficial application of all sewage sludge from their new waste water treatment facility at Dalmuir to Dirk European Holdings Ltd.

The contract is of great consequence for the waste water treatment arising from the Dalmuir area as there is complete dependence on the Dirk installation.

The contract value is £ 2.2 m and is now commissioned and in production.

The plant comprises of two Hiller dewatering centrifuges and a DIRK alkaline stabilisation plant. The whole process is housed in a purpose built odour controlled building where the resulting biosolid product is kept for loading and application to farmland

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), India, became the Nobel Peace Prize laureate together with the former American Vice President Al Gore for laying foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract climate changes. This panel in collaboration with TERI (Tata Energy and Resources Institute) issued in 2006 a book containing 25 best projects for corporate environmental responsibility in India - the DIRK Pozzocrete plant at Nashik was selected as one of those twenty five project.
