The tower, previously known as 'Burj Dubai', was renamed 'Burj Khalifa' and its final height was revealed as 828 metres, a good 300 metres taller than the previous record holder. The announcement was made in front of thousands of people who had squeezed into Dubai's downtown area to witness one of the world's biggest firework displays. Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum renamed the tower after the president of the UAE and the ruler of neighbouring Abu Dhabi. The final height of 828 metres was 10 metres higher than pundits had been predicting. DIRK India provided 19000 tonnage of POZZOCRETE 63 for the concrete used for the foundations of this prestigeous structure.
