DIRK INDIA meets customers at the International Seminar: CEMENT EXPO 2006 in Mumbai

October 30, 2006

CEMENT EXPO 2006 will highlight that India is the second largest cement producer worldwide. India is also the second largest producer of Fly Ash from coal fired power stations worldwide. Fly Ash is a proven partial cement replacement and concrete quality improving additive. Given the current hype in cement prices combined with a supply shortage in certain areas, Fly Ash has to play an important role. CEMENT EXPO is held on 2nd and 3rd November 2006 at Nehru Centre, Worli, Mumbai.

At a Press Conference to be held at the exhibition Mr. Georg Dirk (chairman of the international DIRK GROUP) will state that the current policy to provide 16 million tons of fly ash per year free of cost to the cement industry for the production of PPC is to disadvantage of the Indian public.

Ash which is given for free from state controlled power generation boards is bought back for public sector infra structure projects at IRs 4000 per metric ton. G. Dirk estimates the loss incurred by the Indian public sector to amount to 40 million USD per year.
