Madhya Pradesh working on improved Fly Ash recycling

On invitation of the Principal Secretary and chairman of the Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board , Mr. Rakesh Sahni, a meeting was held under the direction of the Chief Minister of MP at Bhopal to discuss the involvement of DIRK India in setting up recycling facilities under a long term agreement with the MPSEB.

MPSEB is evaluating the various options to improve the recycling of Fly Ash from their coal fired power stations. Earlier in 2005 MPSEB delegated their ash specialists to visit the DIRK Nashik Fly Ash recycling plant of to study the successful approach DIRK has made to this environmental problem in Maharashtra (the neighbouring state). Georg Dirk (chairman of DIRK Group explained possible solutions and offered to start activities in Madhya Pradesh for converting fly ash into a partial cement replacement and producing high quality filler products from floating lagoon ashes as soon as possible.

Mr. Babulal Gaur, the honourable Chief Minister of MP welcomed the proposals Mr. Dirk made and directed the board to take the necessary action to implement such ash recycling technology.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), India, became the Nobel Peace Prize laureate together with the former American Vice President Al Gore for laying foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract climate changes. This panel in collaboration with TERI (Tata Energy and Resources Institute) issued in 2006 a book containing 25 best projects for corporate environmental responsibility in India - the DIRK Pozzocrete plant at Nashik was selected as one of those twenty five project.
