whilst disposing of an appeal case between MAHAGENCO and DIRK India the Bombay High Court directed MAHAGENCO not to supply any fly ash to parties which have no environmental clearance for their operations by the Maharashtra Pollution Board. 12 companies had consequently to stop their operations as they were not in possession of the required permissions. Finally sites like the one shown on this photo will be a matter of the past.
The parties now stopped were predominantly selling coarse fly ash which is well outside the Indian Standards for fly ash in structural concrete. Such ash was not collected by DIRK India under their exclusivity agreement with MAHAGENCO.
