British Dep. High Commissioner for Western India visits DIRK India's Pozzocrete plant

March 23, 2012

Mr. Peter Beckingham accompanied by Mr. Jitendra Jain and T.R. Giridhar (Senior Trade Advisors of UK Trade and Investment) visited the POZZOCRETE plant at Nashik. DIRK India was initially promoted by Milbank Ltd a UK company owned by Georg Dirk. The British High Commission had been providing valuable advice and assistance to Dirk India since its inception.

Although now a subsidiary of AMBUJA Cements Ltd, controlled by Swiss major HOLCIM, the connection to the Mumbai Deputy High Commission there is still a minority stake of Milbank Ltd in Dirk India. Mr. Dirk stated that this venture which has changed the construction industry in India might not have been started at all if 11 years ago Jitendra Jain of UK Trade and Investment would not have suggested the recycling of Fly Ash as a viable project in the first place.
