Mobile Fly Ash Evaluation Unit for initial project due diligence

September 27, 2008

The varying performance of power station caused by its coal fuel source as well as by its boiler performance and maintenance results into constantly changing ash parameters. To enable DIRK to study the feasibility of a fly ash processing project over a period of time DIRK has a mobile ash quality verification unit consisting of an ash laboratory and an office to maintain the statistical data obtained in such an exercise. The unit can be installed as a first step of a fly ash processing project.   Testing requires the installation of dry ash extracting valves on a selected number of the hoppers of the Electro Static Precipitators for permanent ash collection to enable to study the effect of changing fuel and operation scenarios against fly ash parameters. Ash being collected for such purposes will be sold to the market if the Indian Standard requirements for Fly Ash in concrete are found to be met. Other ( out of specification) material needs to be disposed of.

DIRK has been approached by existing as well as by a number of companies starting up new power projects to develop a Fly Ash recycling strategy. This unit is usually the first step to get to reliable technical and economical data.
