The United Nations declared the 5th of June as World Environment Day. This year the main focus was on climate change and melting of the polar ice caps under the header: Melting Ice - a hot topic. The Institution of Engineers recognized that by replacing cement with Fly Ash huge amounts of carbon emissions can be avoided.
DIRK India is the leading Fly Ash recycling plant in India. It saves around half a million tons of CO2 emissions per year - and that is only half of the emissions which could be saved if the plant would be allowed to recycle all the Fly Ash from MAHAGENCO's Nashik Thermal Power Station.
Mr. G. Dirk, chairman of Dirk Group, was facilitated as chief guest at the Nashik World Environment Day organised by the Instition of Engineers (India). Mr. Dirk explained in his presentation the effect of the Nashik plant to the environment. Mr. S.D. Parakh ( Managing Director of Ashoka Buildcon Limited) one of the leading infrastructure developers in India highlighted the necessity to use quality verified Fly Ash in all construction projects to produce improved concrete at a lower cost and reducing at the same time the impact on the environment.
