Fly Ash as partial cement replacement ....and coal source of power station

March 18, 2007

The constant performance of Fly Ash as partial cement replacement is directly related to the chemical composition of the coal utilized in the power station from where the raw ash for processing is sourced. If concrete mix designs are to be economically maximized one has to rely on the constant unique composition of the coal source.

The supply from various power stations can not result in the certainty of chemical composition, but only on particle size (if processed). The attached graph shows the multitude of coal fuels used in power stations. Projects with large volumes to be supplied over longer periods need the certainty that the supplied Fly Ash product meets the mix design requirements for the duration of the project, or changes of mix design may become necessary.

The POZZOCRETE plant in Nashik guarantees the chemical composition in line with the standards. IS 3812 and EN450 of its products long term. POZZOCRETE provided by DIRK India is only sourced from Nashik Thermal Power Station.

Users should insist on full information from where the raw fly ash is sourced and request updates of the ash chemistry whenever the supply source changes.

Accolades

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), India, became the Nobel Peace Prize laureate together with the former American Vice President Al Gore for laying foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract climate changes. This panel in collaboration with TERI (Tata Energy and Resources Institute) issued in 2006 a book containing 25 best projects for corporate environmental responsibility in India - the DIRK Pozzocrete plant at Nashik was selected as one of those twenty five project.
