Good NEWS for the Concrete Industry and DIRK India

July 25, 2014

In an important judgment the Bombay High Court set aside a previous arbitration order which resulted in direct non availability of Fly Ash from Nashik Thermal Power Station for DIRK India. The Power Station used this situation to increase their Fly Ash price by more than 14 times. This, plus processing cost at the Nashik POZZOCRETE plant increased the price of ISI-marked POZZOCRETE beyond limits affordable for the concrete industry. Many concrete producers had no other choice than buying raw Fly Ash of uncertain quality from ash traders.

Now, on the basis of the current positive High Court order Dirk India can apply to the court to grant them access to all Fly Ash from Nashik Thermal Power Station as per their 30 year contract.

Who will benefit?

First the environment as no more Fly Ash needs to be dumped.

Second the concrete industry by getting ISI marked Fly Ash at an acceptable price.

Third the Power Generator as he will be able to fully adhere to the Fly Ash Directive.

Fourth the villages around the Power Station, as they will not have to suffer from Water- and Dust pollution.

Finally DIRK India as hundreds of employees and contract workers will remain in a secure job.

Georg Dirk, MD and chairman of DIRK India thanked the shareholders of DIRK India, Ambuja Cement Ltd and Milbank Ltd for their financial support in the last years to keep DIRK India functionable.
