Under the hospice of the Maharashtra Fly Ash Information Centre, Dirk India Private Ltd. and Ali Al Rashid Industries (the sole importer of POZZOCRETE into the Kingdom of Bahrain) a seminar focusing of Fly Ash in concrete was held on 19th October 2009 at the Gulf Hotel, Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. The seminar was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Works (Kingdom of Bahrain) and other Bahrain authorities, Architects, Consultants and concrete producers. A lively discussion on various aspects of fly ash in concrete was triggered by the two lectures held by Prof. Ravindra Dhir. Delegates came from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Pakistan. Mr. Dirk highlighted the fact that Bahrain has the theoretical potential of using 500.000 ts of Fly Ash per year as partial cement-replacement and could by that contribute around 500.000 ts carbon emission savings at the same time.
