Great rush for the last POZZOCRETE break bulk shipments prior to monsoon

May 26, 2007

Like every year there is a pile up of export orders for POZZOCRETE prior to the start of monsoon when loading of goods into an open vessel is hindered by pouring rain. The average ship size DIRK is using from Mumbai port for break bulk shipments is 3500-4000 mts per vessel. Hatches would have to remain too long open to avoid material getting wet although goods waiting for shipping are stored in dry port sheds.

Although moisture does not effect the performance of POZZOCRETE in concrete, the handling of the powder becomes a great problem when product gets wet. To avoid this DIRK is shipping during monsoon only in containers which are loaded at the Nashik factory under the roof of the bagging shed for export materials. To ensure that no moisture at all is at the point of loading POZZOCRETE is filled into the bags at high temperature. The bags themselves have internal coating to avoid any moisture to penetrate the bag. Bags are paletised and additionally covered with a heavy shrink wrap.

Since a number of years there has been good experience with this type of packaging.
