"The Dubai Fly Ash conclave" confirmed the need of a quality verified Fly Ash products for the Gulf region

DIRK India organised its first "Fly Ash Conclave" for the Gulf region at the Moevenpick Hotel, Dubai. Around 100 architects, consultants, specifiers, construction companies and the ready mix industry attended. Main Guest speaker was Mr.D.B.N. Rao on "The role of processed Fly Ash in development of dense microstructure concrete". In his role as chairman of the Technical Committee on Cement and Concrete, Bureau of Indian Standards, Government of India, Mr. Rao was outlining that by awarding the ISI Standard Mark for Fly Ash to DIRK India the Government of India is guaranteeing the quality of the POZZOCRETE products. Mr. Rao explained the control procedures of the BIS to verify the production of products under the ISI standard mark. A special presentation was made to Dubai Municipality, Dubai Central Laboratory Department.

Mr. G. Dirk, chairman of DIRK GROUP, presented the technical progress of the Dirk India plant in Nashik with its new production capacity of 2500 ts of POZZOCRETE per day. Mr. Pr. Jawale (Director Production) explained the various seperating technologies for raw fly ash and the technology chosen by DIRK for their Nashik plant. Mr. M. Joshi (Director Product Technology) demonstrated the advantages Fly Ash offers when used as partial cement replacement in concrete for coastal areas. Dr. Ivana Dirk-Lukacovicova (Director Export, designate) highlighted the opportunities the GREEN BUILDING market can offer to the industry. Ms. Jyoti Patil managing director of WINNISHA, the exclusive agent for POZZOCRETE products in the UAE, Oman and Qatar, outlined the operational advantages they offer in trading with DIRK India.

During a seperate and exclusive presentation to Dubai Central Laboratory Department it was agreed that Dirk India would apply for the quality verification seal "DCL" of the municipality of Dubai to address the concerns of the municipality that non- quality assured and non-verified Indian Fly Ash is entering the Dubai high-tech construction market. The experts from the Laboratory and from DIRK Group exchanged their views on a number of international standard issues and discussed ways of cooperation.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), India, became the Nobel Peace Prize laureate together with the former American Vice President Al Gore for laying foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract climate changes. This panel in collaboration with TERI (Tata Energy and Resources Institute) issued in 2006 a book containing 25 best projects for corporate environmental responsibility in India - the DIRK Pozzocrete plant at Nashik was selected as one of those twenty five project.
