December 2008 training course at the Fly Ash Information Center with prominent speakers

The year at the Maharashtra Fly Ash Information Center ended with a successful training course attended by a wide spectrum of interested parties (construction industry, ready-mix industry, block and brick making industry, equipment providers to these industries and research establishments. The course was organised by the Deputy Director of the Center Mr. Javed Shaikh.

Prominent speakers were Mr. A.K. Jain, former Vice President Technical of Grassim Industries and advisor to Ultratech, Mr. A. Damle, internationally renowned expert on brick-making, Mr. G. Dirk environmentalist and chairman of DIRK Group. Guest lecturer lecturer was: Mr. Vipul Pandya and from the DIRK team:Mr. Jawale, Mr. Karne, Mr. Yadav, Mr. Vadekar and Mr. Shaikh.

Mr. Shaikh expressed the tanks to all speakers and congratulated them for their valuable contribution to increase and stabilize the recycling of Fly Ash, as only proper use of the right type of Fly Ash will avoid negative results which might cause a decline in Fly Ash utilization.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), India, became the Nobel Peace Prize laureate together with the former American Vice President Al Gore for laying foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract climate changes. This panel in collaboration with TERI (Tata Energy and Resources Institute) issued in 2006 a book containing 25 best projects for corporate environmental responsibility in India - the DIRK Pozzocrete plant at Nashik was selected as one of those twenty five project.
