UK Department of Trade and Industry presents the POZZOCRETE project in India

April 09, 2005

The Environmental Industries Sector Unit of the UK department of Trade and Industry paraded POZZOCRETE as the UK recycling solution for Fly Ash amongst other solid waste solutions to a large audience in Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi. Georg Dirk (chairman of DIRK Group) made presentations on all three events.

Under the hospice of the UK Deputy High Commissioners in Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi the fly ash recycling solution "POZZOCRETE" was explained to a large audience of Indian regulators (regional and national Pollution Control Boards, municipal commissioners) and interested stakeholders.

Georg Dirk (chairman of DIRK GROUP) explained that his approach provides cement replacement rates up to 70% compared to the much smaller replacement rates provided by the PPC solution of the cement industry. Besides this the use of POZZOCRETE creates savings of approx 10% per ton of concrete produced which is much needed to increase the amount of affordable infrastructure.

In the meantime the successful Nashik POZZOCRETE plant can serve as a model plant for other entrepreneurs to either enter into a franchise agreement with DIRK India Pvt. Ltd. or set up their own organisations to maximise the beneficial use of Fly Ash.

Mr. Dirk alerted the power generators in the audience not to risk this newly created market for Fly Ash by allowing inexperienced companies to get access to their Fly Ash for indiscriminant sale. Only quality assured Fly Ash should enter the market - as the failure of one structure supplied with the wrong grade of Fly Ash would kill this market for a long time.

As a result of this presentation a number of power plant owners/operators approached Dirk India for collaboration, joint ventures and direct investment into new facilities to be built.
