Fly Ash>>building material v/s Fly Ash waste

March 02, 2013

Georg Dirk explains to the hon.C. Bhujbal, ( Maharashtra Public Works Minister) : by processing Fly Ash improves from being the uncontrolled waste of a coal fired power station to a quality controlled and reliable construction material.

Trading of "run off station ash" poses a problem to safety and the environment.

DIRK India demonstrated the problems relating to fly ash trading from the fields surrounding Nashik Thermal Power Station without any concern taken to the environmental damage caused by these establishments at a recent exhibition organized by NIMA the Nashik Industries and Manufacturers Association.

Dirk also stressed that as Minister for Public Works it must be of great concern to him that only Fly Ash bearing the standard mark of the Buero of Indian Standards should be used. The ISI mark provides a guarantee that the Fly Ash is suitable for use in structural concrete. It needs to be mentioned that all cements used and manufactured in India have to bear the ISI mark by law. Fly ash is a cementitious material and should be secured in the same way.
