AshTech 2006: in depth information on all aspects of coal combustion by-products (CCP's)

May 17, 2006

This event, organised by the UK Qauality Ash Association (UKQAA), brought together the most renouned experts of the power generation industry, research establishments, the ash processing industry and important users of CCP's. In his key note address Prof. Ravindra Dhir O.B.E. (Dundee University) highlighted that India is now producing 1,4 m tons of ash and reached a recycling rate of 28%.

Mr. Georg Dirk presented: "Processing Fly Ash - an Indian Experience". Ultra Fine Fly Ash ( a substitute for Micro Silica) was one of the new topics addressed by various speakers. The neccessity to process fly ash to open up large fly ash volumes which would have to be deposited otherwise was again emphazised by most speakers.

World Fly ash production is now reported to have reached 360m tonnes. Maximum beneficikal re-use is registered in Germany. Average European re-use has reached more than 50%.

A selection of the papers presented on this conference will shortly be published on the website of the Maharashtra Fly Ash Information Center which can be accessed vis this web-site and accessable for interested parties registering themselves for the Information Centre.
