Advances in Concrete Technology and Materials at Farmagudi, Goa.

December 07, 2015

G. Dirk presents his suggestions how to increase the beneficial use of Fly Ash in concrete at the workshop: Advances in Concrete Technology and Materials at Farmagudi, Goa.

The workshop was organised by the Goa Engineering College, Farmagudi , the Government Polytechnic Mayem- Bicholim, Goa, together with the University of Bath, UK under the UK-India Education and Research Initiative. Georg Dirk, accompanied by Dr. Ivana Dirk, explained various avenues how to increase the use of Fly Ash in cementitious applications. He stressed that all those will lead to massive reductions in CO2 emissions in India as well as large savings of the water required for wet disposal of Fly Ash in to ash-ponds/lagoons. In this connection he was mentioning the Video “Can we afford this” produced some years ago by Dirk India, Nashik and published on You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmrMDCEsIa0
Coinciding with the World Climate Summit at Paris, India needs to explore all solutions to support the summit’s aim to limit the increase of CO2 emissions to max 2% which seems to be rather difficult. Current weather abnormalities demonstrate the urgency to come to a compromise to achieve the saving aim.
